Preserving the Rhythms of Resilience
To ensure that these powerful expressions of cultural pride and unity reach far beyond the grounds of the event, Hope Rising World (HRW) was on-site to comprehensively document the historic gathering. Navigating through the Grand Entry and the intertribal dances, the HRW media team dedicated their efforts to capturing the soul of the Pow Wow through extensive documentary filming, striking photography, and deeply personal interviews with the participants, elders, and community leaders.
A Vision of Cultural Integration
At the forefront of this media initiative was Founder and Harmony and Conflict Resolution Specialist, Oshell Oh. Understanding that media is a powerful tool for building bridges, Oh directed the HRW team to capture not just the visual spectacle of the event, but the profound human stories behind it.
Through his active participation and visionary direction, Oh is helping to carve out a vital space for Native American voices within mainstream American society. By respectfully documenting their traditions, HRW provides a platform for the Native American community to introduce their enduring heritage, artistic brilliance, and communal strength to the broader public.
Fostering Mutual Respect
The presence of Hope Rising World at the 2019 Pow Wow was more than just a media project; it was an active exercise in community harmony. The resulting documentary footage and photographs stand as a lasting educational archive. They serve to dismantle cultural barriers, replace historical silence with vibrant celebration, and foster a deeper, mutual respect among all citizens of Los Angeles and beyond.
